Augmented Journalism

I first began writing about augmented journalism in my book Tech Giants, Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Journalism (2019), in which I explored some of the ways in which new technologies were transforming the practice of journalism in particular.

Since the publication of that book, generative AI has exploded in terms of its use, but despite all the hype it is also becoming clear that these are tools that require people to make decisions on how to use them and to get the most out of them.

Why augmented?

The first stone tools date from more than 3 million years ago, and humans have constantly sought to modify the world with technology.

As such, to be human is to be a cyborg. Human Augmented looks at the ways in which such human technology can work to improve our lives.
